What are Projects?

WebZIP allows 2 types of projects to be created.

1. Standard WebZIP Project

Projects contain all the information about a particular download operation. In addition to containing the inital starting page (URL) and the download method, a project also specifies the download destination (SaveTo folder) and the current progress of a download. The download method contains the criteria that WebZIP uses to follow links (spider) from the starting page to other parts of the Web site.

Once created, projects are displayed within WebZIP's Projects Panel, and can be scheduled, run, stopped resumed and deleted.

2. PageSaver Project

WebZIP 6.0 introduces a new type of project known as a PageSaver project. This project type is used to download complete web pages directly to your local hard disk and allows one or more pages to be specified to be downloaded. Unlike a standard WebZIP project, a PageSaver project performs no spidering, so you must tell it exactly which pages you want it to download before kicking off the download.

WebZIP's Project Toolbar displays the currently running, or currently selected project, along with its download progress and status.

Project Status

At any point in time, a project will be in one of the following states.
  • Unscheduled
The project sits idle until the user schedules it for download.
  • Scheduled
On a certain date and time (depending on how the user sets it), the task will resume downloading.
  • Downloading
    The project is currently downloading.
  • Download Stopped
While downloading, the task has been stopped by the user
  • Incomplete
When the project has stopped downloading (by the user), the task will be incomplete once it resets itself.
  • Project Complete
The entire project has been successfully downloaded.
